Bugland: Carolina On My Mind

The Carolina Mantis (Stagmomantis carolina) is one many species of praying mantis. The species is the state insect of South Carolina, but can be found all over the United States southwards to Brazil. The manti have a dusty brown, gray or green color that is useful as camouflage; they are able to adjust their colors to match the environment they are in.
