Flight Of The Hummingbird
These magical creatures are a common sight in high mountain meadows, darting and hovering about, sipping the nectar from wildflowers. Many Park Hillians were thrilled late this summer when they spotted hummingbirds in the neighborhood, after a seeming absence of many years. The tiny birds are symbols of joyousness and the lightness of being, and are migrating far south for the winter. They stopped along the way to feed on daylilies, foxglove, and honeysuckle. This female broad-tailed hummingbird was photographed by Park Hill resident Mark Silverstein.
