Announcements February 2024
Museum Updates On Tap
Jackie Altreuter, project manager for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science’s Nature Play, will present updates on the project at the upcoming City Park Friends and Neighbors (CPFAN) meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 6. Nature Play is currently under construction on the south side of the museum. At the meeting Altreuter will also discuss and answer questions about the museum’s recently-announced East Wing Renovation Project. The CPFAN meeting is in the Multi Media Room of the Carla Madison Recreation Center, at Colfax and Josephine Street. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and everyone is welcome.
Plan To Plant Some Shade
The application window is wide open for Denver residents to order a low-cost tree for 2024. For more than 40 years the organization Denver Digs Trees has provided 60,000-plus free and low-cost trees to Denver residents. Trees beautify neighborhoods, cool the community, improve air and water quality and lower utility costs. Numerous small and large trees are available — take a look at this year’s selection and apply for a tree at theparkpeople.org/. The standard cost is $35 per tree, and just $10 per tree for people living in some neighborhoods without much of a tree canopy — including much of Northeast Park Hill. The deadline to apply is Feb. 15.
Home Tour Needs You
The Park Hill Street Fair & Home Tour is seeking a coordinator to help secure homes for the wildly popular annual Home Tour. The coordinator works with other committee members between March and May and serves as a liaison for one of the featured homes to help get it ready for the tour in late September. Benefits include a tour of all featured homes, recognition at a volunteer appreciation party and eternal appreciation from the neighborhood. Email Mary Salsich for more: mbsalsich@gmail.com
