Adding Roots In October
By Rebecca Born
Executive Director, GPHC, Inc.
Thank you everyone for all your continued donations and support. This is truly an amazing neighborhood.
We have really enjoyed being able to offer so much fresh food this summer, but the season isn’t over yet. We can’t wait to see what else you have to grow and share.
Our weekend food program has rolled out at the Boys and Girls Club in September and we will be adding Roots in October. We are currently packing 30 bags a week at the Boys and Girls Club and expect that to rise to 75 in October and 90 in December.
We don’t usually ask for specific brands, but in this case, we are. Have you been around kids? We want to make sure there are exactly the same items in every bag that goes out to each particular institution so we really need a large quantity of the same items to make this system work. What follows is a list of what is in our current rotation:
• Campbell’s: Chicken Noodle Soup box
• Chef Boyardee: Ravioli
• Libby bagged vegetables: Corn, Green Beans, and Peas
• Kraft: boxes of Macaroni and Cheese
• Kroger: Instant Oatmeal packets, Dried Beans, Tuna, and Honey Nut Os
• Moo Mates: single serve milk
• Motts: single serving Fruit Cup and Applesauce, packets of Fruit Snacks
If anyone is interested in helping stuff these bags please let director@greaterparkhill.org know and we’ll get you set up.
Thanks!
