A Great Day in the Park (Hill, That Is)
Tudor, Moderns, Restored Farmhouse To Be Featured
By Kate Sultan, Nina Kuhl & Lisa Halstead
Here’s a great opportunity to show off our beautiful neighborhood and get a look inside some lovely homes. Bring family and friends to the 36th Annual Park Hill Home Tour & Street Fair on Sunday, Sept. 28.
Show homes will be open and the street fair events run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Greater Park Hill Community, Inc., your neighborhood association.
This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, so show your support for our community while enjoying a day of touring interesting homes, shopping a wide array of vendors, eating good food, and seeing your neighbors.
Home Tour update
The homes on this year’s tour have been finalized and represent more than 120 years of Park Hill’s diverse architecture.
A new website (www.parkhillhometour.org) will be launched in early August with information about the homes and logistics. This year, we are also pleased to offer a tour of the Historic Smiley campus, which will be the new home of McAuliffe International School this fall, and where many of Park Hill’s middle school students go to school.
Here is a list of this year’s Home Tour homes:
• 1932 Hudson St.: This is a classic two story home, with an addition, and a unique cooling and heating system
• 2050 Grape St.: This is an 1890’s farmhouse that has has been added on to over time, and still has its original carriage house
• 2315 Monaco Pkwy: A Tudor home that seamlessly blends classic architecture with new renovations
• 2334 Grape St.: A modern one story with butterfly roof and geothermal heating/cooling
• 2351 Grape St.: This is a modern new build that features a two story cement wall
• 2540 Holly St.: The Historic Landmark Smiley campus, which will house the McAuliffe International School beginning this fall.
Advance ticket sales start Sept. 1 at several local businesses and online. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $5 for children. Tickets purchased the day of the event increase by $5, so buy your tickets early. Check out parkhillhometour.org for details on where and how to purchase tickets.

Street Fair Update
Along with the beautiful homes and the Smiley campus to tour, there will be a great gathering of local businesses and food trucks on Forest Parkway. We will again have a kids’ entertainment area, as well as a wine and beer garden for adults, with local bands to entertain everyone.
We are going as GREEN as we can this year. All of our food trucks will be using compostable materials, and we will have compost bins, recycle bins, and trash bins available throughout the green. They will be well signed so you will know what to deposit in each bin.
This year we are welcoming a Colorado Company, SolaRover, to be our power source for the day. They will be powering the food trucks, the bands and the kids’ bouncy castle with Mother Nature’s own power from the sun. SolaRover was created in Lone Tree, and their units come fully charged and ready to supply our power needs with or without bright sunshine. Please stop by and thank SolaRover for eliminating the fumes and the noise of generators.
The following are just a few of our returning vendors – 39 so far – that many of you wait to see each year:
• Dr. Margot (Park Hill Vet)
• Nature’s Educators (with their birds of prey)
• Matt Tills Toposcapes
• Dizzie Izzie (kids’ clothing)
• Styria Bakery (can’t get enough of that bread)
• The Wall Rebuilder (for all of our old walls)
• Marilyn Vrooman’s Jewelry
• PS Designs
• The Bungalow
• Craft artwork
• Phil Goodstein books
• Bill Lutomski’s stained glass
• Oblio’s Pizza
• Eis Gelato
• Cake Crumbs
• And many more
As the Home Tour & Street Fair continues to grow, we are attracting more interest from Park Hill and beyond. Joining us this year are 35 new additions, including:
SolaRover, CarToGo, Rare Finds Warehouse, MIG Soaps, Never A Wallflower, Hellimae’s Caramels, Naturally Loved Baby, Andrew’s Rockets, A Little Help, From Picked to Perfection, Meg & Mell, The Rowdy Girl, Anne Franklin Designs, Babes & Hussies, Mutts & Mittens, Three Week Kitchens and many, many more.
Also new this year: Two local car clubs will be bringing their classic cars for all to view and admire. They will be parked on the West side of Forest Parkway between 17th and 19th Avenues.
To see the complete list of vendors and food trucks check out the website at www.ParkHIllStreetFair.com.
Finally, if you have a business that Park Hill residents should know about and want to show your wares at the Street Fair, please register now before all the booth spaces are sold out. A 10’ x 10’ booth is $125. As of this writing, we have approximately 30 spaces left.
We look forward to another great Street Fair!
