Executive Director, GPHC, Inc.

The 10th annual Park Hill 4th of July Parade was a huge success; and if you attended, you can attest, loads of fun! And now, it’s slowed down a bit here at Greater Park Hill Community, Inc., affording us the opportunity play catch-up from a whirlwind past few months.

I will be taking this time to focus on our membership. We recently moved our database over to a sleek new software that will allow us to more efficiently track and process membership. Along with this will come some new outreach to ensure all of our Park Hill neighbors know that we’re here and we’re here for you.

If you’re already a member – THANK YOU (and tell your friends). If you’re not a member, I would encourage you to jump on greaterparkhill.org/join-us/become-a-member/. (Or, complete and return the membership form on the next page.) It’ll take about five minutes to register and our household memberships are just $35 for the whole year. Our members support our mission – community advocacy, food programs, sustainability programs, newspaper, and community events. Plus, members can vote for board representation or even take it a step further and run for a board position.

Speaking of the board, we are currently working on expanding and diversifying our board committees. If you would like to get more involved in the organization, consider joining a committee. You are not required to be a board member and we most likely have something that would meet your interests. Send an email to director@greaterparkhill.org if you’d like further details.

This August reprieve won’t last for long because our Home Tour & Street Fair committee is hard at work gearing up for the 41st annual event. Tour unique and lovely homes, shop, eat, and be entertained at the street fair, and enjoy a day out with your neighbors. Mark your calendar for Sunday, Sept. 8. Check out page 11 and visit parkhillhometour.org for details. If you want to visit the home tour for free, sign up to work a shift the day of the event (details on the website).

Our Free Farm Stand continues on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Farm Stand is completely free and open to everyone. If you would like to donate excess food from your garden, please bring it on over. If you want to pick some fresh produce and other goodies up for your table, come on by.

Our Emergency Food Pantry is very much in need of canned fruits and rice. You can drop off donations at our office (at 2823 Fairfax St.), Bikes Together (2825 Fairfax St.), the  Park Hill Branch of Denver Public Library (4705 Montview Blvd), and Cake Crumbs (2216 Kearney St.) all during regular business hours.

Our August community and board meeting will be held Thursday, Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at 2823 Fairfax St. All are invited and encouraged to attend.

To the donors and volunteers who give their time, talent, and treasure – thank you. We are grateful to be part of a community that comes together to care for those who need it most.
